maggie and milly and molly and may went down to the beach (to play one day) and maggie discovered a shell that sang so sweetly she couldn’t remember her troubles, and milly befriended a stranded star whose rays five languid fingers were; and molly was chased by a horrible thing which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and may came home with a smooth round stone as small as a world and as large as alone. For whatever we lose(like a you or a me) it’s always ourselves we find in the sea ee cummings |
Never tried this before! We thought it would be nice to give certain people pressies of etched glass but had to try it out first on some old glasses to make sure we didn't make a complete hash of it!
It is tremendous fun.
First of all you need a pot of glass etch and some etch stencils. A small paint brush and some special masking tape. The etch comes in a fairly small pot but once it's done it's work on the glass you can scrape it back.
Then you just decide what you want to etch and what you want to put on it. We did the glasses and then moved on to the pressie.
It takes AGES to unstick all the letters and get them in the right place then mask it all, but it is so so worth it!
nice, who would even guess you are also farmers, dentists, office managers, boutique lodgers - where do you find the time!!!!! only 6 more sleeps...
ReplyDeleteI know!! can't wait to see you all - I hope our huge pooches don't land on top of Mollie
ReplyDeleteLaura--you are amazing!! The glass-etching looks lovely, very professional, and what a great idea for presents. You make it sound so easy but I know that I could'nt do that-in a million years!
ReplyDeleteMust go and get changed before family )including Sue and Michael) arrive for a meal.
Lots of love and XXXXX to you and Lloyd---P and A
Penny, I have to admit that for the mirror it was Lloyd that did all the sticking while I was harvesting the garlic!
