I am really pleased by how happy the boy ducks seem to be. I was a bit worried about just keeping three boys with no girls for them to hang out with, but they're fine. Inseparable,  but fine.
They're very content to wander round the garden, go swimming in the stream and our neighbours pond (thankfully the neighbours love them as much as we do) and lie under the table on the deck.
They are a joy.

The potatoes that Silje planted a while back are coming on brilliantly. We've had a fair amount of rain so lots of things are growing like crazy. Brilliant for the potatoes. Shame the same can't be said about the veggie garden. It seems to be growing terribly slowly.  I was chatting to one of the growers at the market a couple of weeks ago and she was also saying everything is so slow to get going this year. I planted my seeds a month earlier than last year, yet they are much much further behind.

Still, the view from my potting shed window is quite nice so I don't really mind that half my seedlings are too small to go outside and are still trying to grow in there. I do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time in the new potting shed.

I'm still trying to get my blogging mojo back. I have  no idea where it's hiding!

  1. Hi Laura. Just wondering why the ducks stay around. Why don't they travel further afield? They are gorgeous by the way. I love ducks so much. Your's are beautiful colours. xxoo

  2. Hi there, well they're Silver Appleyards so they are a non flying breed, but they walk... a lot! They were born here and are totally free range, but they just stay. They know when they're on to a good thing. Even though they're free range I do feed them and they also have a house ( which they never use.) I really don't know why they stay, they just do. We gave the girls and some of the other boys to friends of ours who live down by the beach. They have flying ducks too and they all stay there. They must just know where home is!

  3. oh also when I described where they like to go I didn't make it clear - they have 24 acres to faff around in :) AND our neighbours garden!

  4. How lucky to have a potting shed, I would love one. The ducks are very cute.

  5. Ahh, blogging mojo. It comes and goes here too. Love the quackers, we're trying to organise getting bantams for our boys for Christmas. Fun fun!

  6. Your ducks are lovely and make a wonderful addition to your country property. I enjoyed seeing the rest of your photos as well, especially that corner of your porch. Wow.

We do all tend to lose our blogging mojo at times, but it usually comes back.

Enjoy this lovely time of year.

  7. Aren't they so handsome? I've got three girls coming this week for my Mr he's going to be sooooo excited! It's spring, there's so much more to do than dream up clever posts. Enjoy!

  8. Thanks for answering my question Laura. xxoo

I love it when you leave me comments, it lets me know there are folk out there reading my ramblings! Thank you, I appreciate them loads and loads
