Keep off the Furniture!

The ducks were wandering around the deck, as is their usual thing to do at any time of the day. This wee girl though it would be nice and comfortable to settle herself down on one of the beanbags.
I know this is definitely the first time I've seen a duck on a beanbag!

Oh and it's officially the first day of Autumn today. It was a balmy 27 degrees.

  1. Laura, do they poop everywhere? I really like them, but no one here has them in the suburbs and I wonder why... chickens are very popular, but not ducks. But yours look like so much fun!

  2. Ali, they poop everywhere. EVERYWHERE.
I have 19 and we're going to get this down to 5. Even with all the space we have there is still poop. I hose down the deck every 2 days. Ducks are really messy. I adore them though, they are totally hysterical. The only reason I have so many is all of them raised babies - I had a home for them, but then those people had a problem with wild dogs, so I kept the last 2 lots here, but it's just too many. It's actually not so much the poop, but the racket they make! They are unbelievably loud. All that being said I wouldn't be without some ducks now, but you do need space - just to spread the poop around heehee

  3. Your ducks are adorable! I think I'll admire them from afar though, chicken poop is enough for me to handle. One of my chickens has discovered lately that she can jump up on my outdoor recliner, she'll even hop up on my lap if I happen to be sitting in "her" new spot.

  4. Ducks are adorable. I sometimes see mother ducks and their little ones in a housing development on my way home from work as I drive through. They are always a treat to see.

That picture of the one on the bean bag is adorable. But it wouldn't be nice to have to clean up all the poop all the time.

We have been tossing around what to add to the farmyard. Ducks came up but also to question of poop. My other concern is how do I make them stay home? We have water on 3 sides of us.
