A new Venture

Now that I have no farm, no gigantic garden, no greenhouse, no mowing, no weeding and all the million outdoor things I used to have to do, I need a job! I've started up a wee cake business.
My preferred thing to do would obviously be cupcakes! But I also love cake decorating.

I've set up a wee facebook page - Pixie Cakes. Lovely Lloyd came up with the name, and I love it.

So, if you're a local New Zealander, or even if you're not, check out the page, like it if you want, and look at pretty pictures of cakes!

Even Banana helps. No He doesn't really!!

  3. That's amazing, I wish you the best of luck :-) Has it taken a lot of financial investment to set up the business? I am at a bit of a career crossroads myself at the moment and was thinking along similar lines for a little business here in Cornwall. I would be interested in any tips you might have. ~ Kay

    1. I haven't spent much at all, really. Nothing I wouldn't have spent on baking anyway! I do have to do the cooking part in a Commercial Kitchen cos they have (dumb!) rules in NZ. Also in NZ things like fondant plungers and silicone mats etc are incredibly expensive, so I've sourced them from abroad. Apart from that - nothing! It's never going to be massive, it's just fun, fills my time and hopefully earn a bit of money.

  4. Very nice. I have always admired your decorating abilities and this should be a great success.

Do you still roller derby? I saw a set of skate erasers that reminded me of you.

  5. Good luck in your venture. I always LOVE looking at your cakes and especially the decorating. I never seem to have the patience for the decorating, mainly because I usually have two impatient kids looking over my shoulder! My icing is usually just slap it on, close your eyes and enjoy the taste.
