Passion fruit

Passion fruit does really well up here. I've had a couple of plants in the past, but they were self seeded in incredibly silly places so I let them have one lot of fruit then removed them. They're a bit like triffids when they self seed. I bought a plant and planted it somewhere sensible - it's grown but not nearly so  well as the self seeded ones, however, finally, this one has a few flowers. They look alien.

Hopefully these will turn into fruit. The pulp freezes brilliantly so you can use it all year round for deserts and yummy things

  2. I'm hoping to pick up a passion fruit vine soon, I've killed one before but will try it in a different place. I love passion fruit!

  4. My mother in law was telling me about the manure they used to be able to pick up from the town septic system. Apparently it was great for the garden but you always got heaps of self-seeded passionfruit and tomatoes - the two seeds undigested by the human gut!! (I'm sure your self-sown ones came from your compost pile...didn't they?)

  6. I love these flowers - we use to dissect them and try and draw them - they are truely bonkers - there's something surreal about them - beautiful pictures thank you!

I'm in Scotland but had a passion flower house plant for a while but no fruit - the flowers have a very odd smell which is like the "Germolene" antiseptic cream my Dad used as a cure for everything!
