Very confused Asparagus!

Asparagus is supposed to come up in spring. Ours did, somewhat!
Then this morning I was wandering round the veggie garden and spied these! It's AUTUMN!
Beautiful asparagus, I have no idea what they're playing at but we're going to share them for lunch. Yummy!

Has anyone else got things popping up in the garden in the totally wrong season??

  1. Great line "no idea what they're playing at" ♥

I bet they were great. I enjoyed just LOOKING at them. Off to root around for a green pepper or some broccoli. Which will not be NEARLY the same.

  7. Maybe it's because this crazy weather can't make its mind up!

I found a jonquil (flowers and all) growing in one of the beds yesterday. That isn't supposed to happen for another two months!

And it's not like it's cold either...

  10. Yes! I have had mulberries in autumn and a cucumber too, cucumber aren't supposed to survive summer here. I also have rockmelon growing now, and I am pretty sure they were supposed to be finished months ago.

Goes to show that nature doesn't really read books, doesn't it!

And lovely asparagus, I keep putting off planting some because it takes so long. As though the more I put it off the quicker it will come.
