Mid winter swimming

Last weekend was the shortest day and the group I swim with celebrated by having a non-wetsuit sea swim. Now, I know the photo makes it look nice and warm, and to be honest it was a lovely day, but boy did that water feel cold when we jumped in. It totally took my breath away. Felt quite warm when we got out though!
Anyway, today the local paper had us in it.
And here we are!

  4. You are a much braver woman than I! Or is it that you were born in Scotland? :)

Have you heard of the Bondi Icebergs? Their site might interest you. http://icebergs.com.au/

Laura--I found you hiding in the photo! I think you're extremely brave to swim in the bay; I don't thin k I could have done it--ever! even though swimming was the only sport I enjoyed. I always feared something nasty would grab me from the deep! Anyway--good for you

  7. :) it was cold! And to be truthful it was only ok!! Not totally enjoyable, but everyone was really happy and there's a lovely cafe right across the road for lovely hot chocolate afterwards. It's definitely warmer in a wet suit!! I'll do it again next year though, for sure,
