Curry Cup 2011

I mentioned in Lloyd's rendang post that we have a Curry Cup each year. Well today was the day and the standard was ridiculous! It had the most entries ever and each and every one was delicious ( our local curry restaurant could seriously learn a thing or two!) It made it really hard to vote for my favourite three, and I won't say who I voted for, as it would be telling! Suffice to say everyone votes honestly and not tactically. In fact Lloyd and Danny, who tied for first place after the tasting, actually voted for eachother. Which was really lovely.

Anyway, here's a selection of what we had.

The "Curry Cup" which is presented to the winner, what you can't see in the photo is that the names of the winners really are engraved on the plaque - we take this very seriously!

Anyway, as I said Danny and Lloyd were tied on the vote so it went to a tie break - they had to name the 16 ingredients that went into the Tom Kha that Bart had made. Danny won ( by a whisker!)

But Lloyd was still happy as he got a really cool rosette!

Next year's competition will be held at Danny and Paula's house, can it get any better?
Stay tuned.

  1. What a great way to get people together. And you get to eat yummy food without ALL the preparation. Our local community has a curry night each year where people bring in a curry each and pay a donation fee to raise funds for the hall. Great fun. I hadn't thought laterally about doing it with friends.

  8. All the curries look so, so good. It was a real coincident, we had a family curry night last night as well. Each one of us bringing a curry. It must be the cold weather that makes us wanting to eat something warm.
