I'm still going to pottery and finally I've got to the stage that even though the things I make on the wheel are still a bit squinty, they are now thinner and you don't need muscles like Popeye to lift them.
I've been sticking to the pale colours and I'm having a bit of a dot fest!
The good thing is we really are using them all and I'm still loving it.
Here's some small unglazed stuff. The front three were made on the wheel and were just me having a mess around. One of them got mashed round the rim when I picked it up and another is totally squint - I could say I meant it to be like that, but that would be a big fat lie!! The back one is a hand made pinch pot to go with my rustic dotty ones that I made a while ago.
These are some dotty, finished bowls. They're actually quite big and I admit to absolutely loving them and being somewhat delighted that they look nice.
And the rustic dotty ones that I use all the time, so I'm going to make a set. I just glazed the small one and I've got a couple of larger ones waiting to be fired.
Newly glazed pinch pot and what it should come out like once it's been fired again!!
And here's the squinty one. I painted wee blue flowers on it. It might be cute once its fired!
It's raining buckets today ( after a few absolutely stunning days where
we've done loads outside) so I'm having an inside day. Glazing some
plates and making macarons. We'll have to see how these come out as I
haven't made any for eons! I've turned the kitchen table into some sort of odd work station!
How gorgeous! That must be so rewarding. I am not brave enough to attempt macarons, especially not in damp weather - I hope you'll post some pictures when yours are done!
ReplyDeleteit's just really really good fun! The macarons came out rubbish!! only saving grace was that they tasted good!! I didn't even take a pic!
DeleteI wish I had the guts to try to make them myself. A few months ago I found some in the frozen desserts section at the market. I ate the first one right out of the box, but let the others thaw. They are really delicious and I really do have to get going and make some.
ReplyDeleteI saw a wedding cake made of macarons. Now I am trying to think of a way to have someone give me a smaller version for my birthday. There goes my blood glucose levels.
a wedding cake would have looked amazing! :)
DeleteI just love your pottery! It is so personal & pretty. I would much rather be outside but it is also nice to have a bad weather day, it is amazing all the little jobs you can do. I do hope Vienna is back to her beautiful self. xx
ReplyDeleteVienna is most definitely on the mend :) She's getting fed 4 times a day and has filled out a good bit. She's still got a wee way to go, but she is a very small alpaca at the best of times. Thanks for asking, Ali xxx
DeleteYour pots are totally amazing. I love anything that is handmade and really useful that looks pretty too, the best of all worlds :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm really chuffed with them. and better still Lloyd likes them too :)
DeleteGreat work, Laura!! They look really good. I like the dots. Its fun and simple without being completely plain. It must be so satisfying to serve up some of your fresh grown garden goodness in vessels made by your own hands!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! Have you ever given it a go?
DeleteWhat fabulous bowls - I love the dotty ones.
ReplyDeleteI love handmade pots, and I love DOTS even more!! I have been making some pinch pots, mine have an eye in the base inside them, cannot wait for them to be fired along with my russian dolls. Will show you when they are done. Yahooooo to being potty about dotty pots!!
ReplyDeleteOOO do do do do !!
DeleteI love your little pots - useful for so many things! I must confess I do tend to think of the movie Ghost anytime anyone mentions pottery and pottery wheels - my bad. I've been enjoying your posts with a cuppa (and a few fresh dates - cos they are a healthy sweet treat they say) and I've a smile on my dial form ear to ear!! I'm now on a mission for Hubby and I to plan a getaway... a vacation to New Zealand... to stay in the cutest cottage I've seen in a looong while! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI think of Ghost too!!! well, if you do ever get over you would be so welcome! xx
