The Sunday Creative - RAW

Raw: adj 1.Not cooked  2. Changed little from the original form; not processed  3. Having the surface abraded or irritated  4. Not trained or experienced  5. Vulgar; coarse  6. Disagreeably cold and damp  7. Unfair

For the Sunday Creative I try to 'do' the first thing that pops into my head when I see the word. For 'raw' it just had to be garlic! I don't know why, but it just popped right on in there and there was no stopping it! I do love garlic.
We grow our own and it's terribly satisfying. We keep cloves from the previous year and plant them the following year. By doing this we've managed to keep some heritage garlic going.
Rule of thumb for planting garlic...plant shortest day, harvest longest day.
This is our own, it's an old heritage  one called Takahue.

  2. I am off to bed now, but glad to see you managed to think of something raw - I could do raw terror after being suspended 100ft in the air! Will sleep on that thought overnight as it has been one very long weekend full of stuff going on that will keep me busy next week downloading in the evenings.

  3. I love garlic toast. My daughter-in-law puts garlic in her brown beans. Yum.

So, if one plants on the shortest day then that would be in winter? I would have to brush the snow off the dirt first, lol. My SIL loves to cook and garlic is one of his favorite ingredients. Thanks to him we all have good health, bad breath, and not a vampire within 5 miles!

  5. How do you keep your garlic from one year to the next to replant? It seems the garlic I get from the farmer's market sprouts within 2 weeks of purchasing, even if I keep it in the fridge!

  6. Gorgeous looking Garlic - I plant mine with the kids they love seeing how many cloves they can get out of 3 or 4 bulbs and it pops up quite quickly.
