Veggies and flowers.

It's far too hot to be inside making soap today. The forecast for tomorrow is showers so I'll do it if it's raining. Today we went to the beach instead. The dogs were delighted with this idea way more than soap making.
Lloyd threw sticks and mum and I guddled around in the shallows collecting pipis for tea.
Mum is now reading/sleeping on a bean bag - as she does in the afternoon!
I went round the veggie garden inspecting it. Nothing is ready yet but finally I can see growth.
Tiny, little flower buds appearing on the tomatoes.

Flower buds appearing on the gem squash. This is our first year growing Gem Squash, it was tricky finding the seeds, but if we get any we'll eat every single one! Gem squash are a real favourite of ours.

Goldrush courgettes coming along. We had an extra space in the veggie garden so I got a green one as well. We've now got three courgette plants - total overkill.  The speed these things grow they'll probably be ready in about 4 days ~ bring on the fritters!

Not my favourite thing to find in my veggie garden!

First time I've ever seen one of these teeny dragonflies around. I found it almost impossible to get a photo of it. It's body ( lloyd said it's it's thorax) was bright red in the sun. Pretty stunning, really.

A couple more of the wild flower garden. It changes almost daily because there are always new flowers appearing. I just love it.

  2. That's a damselfly :D If their wings fold flat down their back it's a damselfly, if held outwards it's a dragonfly normally! We get both here, and we have beautiful jade green damselfies. Such stunning colours!

Lovely photos. If you gat a lot of courgettes you should try a roulade, grate the courgettes and mix with beaten eggs, bake in a baking try and roll up with a filling of your choice. Saw it last night on 'Come Dine with Me' you may be able to find the recipe online.
