wee melting moments

A little while ago I made some melting moments.  I made some more today, but this time I made them half the size, much more dainty looking, and added more lemon juice to the creamy filling. I think they are even more yummy!

I'm pretty sure they won't last long.

Oh and do you remember that Mavis is sitting on eggs? Well they were fertile and some of them are hatching as I type! Nature being nature, I'm sure they won't all hatch, but I can hear cheeping and I saw one wee, tiny greyish, blackish head peeking out! By tomorrow morning I'll be able to tell how many of the nine hatched.  Please keep fingers and toes crossed.

  2. There's nothing better than the hatching of new chicks. We had a chook go broody and so we placed some fertilised eggs under her and waited. She was very devoted until a day before they were due to hatch, so we ended up with 9 eggs in the bath tub under a heat lamp. We were so excited when two chicks emerged. After five weeks of a stinky bathroom, they finally went outside with the other girls, but Olive and Gertrude turned out to be Oliver and Gerard. It was still fun!

  4. The melting moments look yum. The girls love them and their grandmother always makes them when we visit Timaru. Good luck on the eggs.
