Well after a self imposed long weekend of no socialising - the garden and various other bits and bobs called us - we went out yesterday to meet friends. We started off in Paihia with Rod and Gilla who are (sadly for us!) heading back to France very soon. Hopefully we'll see them again in October. Then the four of us headed over to Russell on the wee foot ferry. We met up with Sam and Rob, their kids and some family who are over visiting from the Uk.
A very late lunch/early dinner was enjoyed at The Duke. They do rather amazing fish and chips there, almost as good as Mangonui!
The views from The Duke must be some of the prettiest ever, especially if you're there for sunset as we were.
I love this one of a bunch of kids chatting and eating their fish and chips as the sun set.
There's something about taking a boat to get somewhere... you always feel like you've been on holiday.
We've actually really felt like this long Easter weekend has been a holiday. The weather has been spectacular, enjoyed all the more probably, because of the truly unremarkable summer we've had!
Going to experiment by planting some potatoes today - it may be a bit late, but we'll see. I also planted some Rainbow Chard and more Alderman peas. These should do ok as it gets cooler.
Love your photos they are stunning.
